Jacked on the 26th

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Today is the 26th. It comes every month on the same day. On this day I have great mixed emotions. From one end of the spectrum to the complete opposite. On this day... I get paid. Now, I'm like most people. I enjoy receiving my hard earned paycheck. I have bills that must get paid, I have food that must be bought, I have a child that grows rapidly and needs clothes and shoes. (don't get me started on the shoe thing) But, with all that set aside I can't help but boil inside when I see my little stub that shows me how much the government has apprehended. It frustrated me that out of ever dollar I make 33 cents goes to hap-hazard spending programs that don't do much at all. Maybe I'm the only one who feels like I get jacked every month but I work hard for my money and I would love to see more of it.

We need to get on the ball regarding the FairTax Plan. If you haven't researched the bill it's H.R. 25 in the House of Representatives and S 25 in the Senate. Please take the time and read the FairTax Book.

If you are interested in a better way to actually "PAY" your taxes instead of the government "TAKING" your taxes, please get involved.

I sure would love the 26th to be a day I look forward to with a greater anticipation than I do now.

Here's a couple places to see what it's about:

Welcome Home

"Welcome Hannah Grace Price. We have been expecting you."

At 3:20 am on the first day of this new year 2006 the newest member of our family was welcomed into this world. Hannah was born 7 lbs. 8 oz. with a head of hair Don King would be proud of. With no major complications she was the third baby to be delivered in Atlanta for 2006.

Congratulations you guys... we are beside ourselves with excitement. Welcome to parenthood. It is truly an amazing journey. Don't blink because it goes by quicky.

On Track at Bryson City

The conversation went a little something like this... "Peyton... how would you like to ride on a real train...?"

So... thats all it took and we were off. We drove to Bryson City to take a ride on the historical Smokey Mountain Railroad. We were greeted with a bluegrass band as we waited to board and with much anticipation... we finally heard the conductor yell... "ALL ABOARD!!!!!" We jumped on and found some great seats. Shortly after settling in we were underway. We rode along the shoreline of Lake Fontana and followed the Chatooga River to the Nantahala Outdoors center where we stretched our legs and took in the beauty around us. After a little while we boarded the train once again and headed back to Bryson City Station. The trip was about 3 to 3 1/2 hours and we enjoyed every second of it. When we were not marveling at the mountains and rivers we were laughing and chatting. I stopped several times to imagine what was going through the mind of a 3 year old who's favorite toy in the world right now is "Thomas the Train". Peyton would stair out the window with great contentment as though all he was doing was soaking in a dream. It was truly a sight to behold.

Here are some photos from our trip. Enjoy.
